Welcome to the Transport page of the Baslow Environment Group! Here you'll find information and updates on sustainable transport initiatives in and around our village.
We're currently monitoring exciting plans for a dedicated bicycle network route that will make cycling through Baslow safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
Keep an eye out for news on local bus routes, including any changes or improvements to services.
We were also delighted to recently host a successful E-bike taster day on 18 May 2025, offering residents the chance to try out electric bikes and explore a greener way to travel.
In late 2026, we conducted a survey across our Baslow and Bubnell community of bus services provided by local operators. You will find below the outcome of this survey which provides some of the key themes fed back in the responses. There were, perhaps, not too many surprises in the feedback, but we will aim to share with the local operators and solicit their vision for continuous improvement in service.
One aspect fed back regarding online bus arrival / departure information has, in fact, been partially addressed with the implementation of an online ’service status’ board at the Nether End bus stop. One other aspect which may be worth progressing is the provision of late night services from Sheffield and Chesterfield to Baslow which seems to get raised regularly.

Thank you very much for your support and contributions to this exercise.
A small group of local residents are meeting to discuss the key issues we face with traffic throughout Baslow and Bubnell, including the volume of HGVs passing through the village and improvements in safety for both pedestrians and cyclists. This is becoming an increasing cause for concern and the group are exploring what practical steps can be taken to address these issues.
